Topic: The Success Story of FC Cincinnati
Presenter: Jeff Berding, President/CEO and General Manager, FC Cincinnati

The buzz of the town in 2016 and 2017 was a new professional team for Cincinnati – and a new sport…FC Cincinnati. In 2016, FC Cincinnati debuted by breaking attendance records for their league, the United Soccer League (USL). That proverbial soccer ball was “rolling” in this City and it has continued at a rapid pace in 2017. The FC Cincinnati has a very successful US Open Cup run which ended in August 2017 in a semifinal match loss against the New York Red Bulls. The Club is continuing to grow and looking to expand.

Please join us for a presentation from Jeff Berding, President/CEO and General Manager of FC Cincinnati to hear of their successes, plans and future visions for the team and our area. Jeff is a member of the ownership group led by Carl Lindner III and his family. FC Cincinnati is one of 30 teams in the United Soccer League, the largest soccer league in the United States and Canada. The USL operates as a second division in the U.S. soccer pyramid, one level below Major League Soccer, and team’s long-term goal is to prove that Cincinnati is a big league soccer town and earn the right to be awarded an MLS Franchise.

Prior to his August 2015 founding of FC Cincinnati, Jeff served for more than 19 years as an executive with the Cincinnati Bengals. Jeff led the Sales and Public Affairs efforts for the NFL team and was integrally involved in the planning, design and construction efforts for Paul Brown Stadium. He joined the Bengals in 1996 after managing the successful voter referendum campaign to win approval of public funding for the Reds and Bengals stadia. In soccer, Jeff served for three years as volunteer president of Kings Hammer Soccer Club, the second largest select club in Greater Cincinnati, after leading the effort to merge two successful youth organizations.

Bringing professional soccer to Cincinnati is consistent with Jeff’s track record of working to make his hometown a better place to live, work and raise a family. While remaining a full-time executive at the Bengals, Jeff was elected to his first term on Cincinnati City Council in November 2005, and was re-elected in 2007 and 2009. He chaired Rules & Government Operations Committee and was vice-chair of the Finance Committee. He was a leading voice for the business community, and with Chris Bortz, worked with Reds majority owners Bob Castellini and Tom Williams to create The Banks Working Group, resulting in a dynamic new riverfront

At the event, you will have a fantastic opportunity to network with members of other area chambers including: Evendale, Forest Park, Norwood, Reading, Springdale, and Woodlawn. You are welcome to bring literature about your business as there will be display tables set up in the networking area.
